If you have vacant land then this news is for you. Now you will get subsidy from the government for this vacant land. The Bihar government will try to provide every possible help to open cold storage.
Actually, the Bihar government will provide every kind of facility to open new cold storage in the state. There is not a single cold storage in 12 districts of the state. Due to which now the government is giving a subsidy of up to 50 percent for opening cold storage. According to media reports, there are about 200 cold storages in Bihar. Whose total storage capacity is about 12,30,175 metric tons. The 12 districts which do not have a single cold storage include – Nawada, Madhubani, Aurangabad, Banka, Munger, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Saharsa, Jamui, Arwal and Shivhar. The state government plans to have as many cold storages as possible in the state.
The government is giving subsidy on cold storage construction under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. General category farmers will get subsidy up to 40% (Rs 5.5 lakh) and SC/ST farmers will get subsidy up to 50% (Rs 7 lakh). For government cold storage unit, general category will get 40% subsidy (Rs 8 lakh on cost of Rs 20.25 lakh). SC and ST will get 50% of the subsidy (Rs 10 lakh) or 50% of the cost.

Under this scheme, 108 cold storages of 100 metric tons and 46 cold storages of 200 metric tons will be built in Bihar. Registered farmers can apply on the DBT portal. Farmers who have already benefited will not be able to get the benefit of this scheme. Jamabandi in the name of the beneficiary is mandatory to apply. Beneficiaries will be selected through lottery. Waiting list will also be prepared according to category wise target. Verification will be done after selection. If found ineligible in verification, the next farmer will be selected from the waiting list.

Online applications for the Cold Storage Construction Scheme can be made from August 1 to August 31. The online lottery will be drawn on September 6. Verification will be done from September 7 to 14 and the final selection will be done on September 18.
